You are the snowflakes that fall on our noses and on our eyelashes.
Snowflake: Intricate and small design...but really beautifully unique in many ways. The one who is so shy and quiet that most people can't see him.
But we all applaud at your determination to change that.
The one who always has this cute little polar bear at his side.
Who wouldn't want one of those!? All of us find it incredibly cute when you hide behind his sleek white fur.
You are the maple syrup that sweetens up our day.
Even though we may not see you at times, doesn't mean we don't love you.
Again, Happy Birthday, Matthew.

You shivered slightly at the cold nip of a harsh winter wind. Matthew seemed to notice and smiled shyly as he raised his eyebrow. "Cold, eh?" You nodded as you rubbed your hands together and blew hard into them, trying desperately to warm them up despite the fact that you were wearing _f/c_ Northface gloves. You blushed slightly as Matthew suddenly started to wrap his red and white striped scarf around your neck. "There now. Is that better?" he asked as he stepped a few step; back. You immediately smelled Matthew, maple syrup and crushed pine. The smell was intoxicating. You harbored feelings for the Canadian after his brother, Alfred, a loud-mouth American introduced the two of you at one of his Christmas parties. You bumped into Matthew again at a coffee shop, like literally bumped into him and started to apologize when he shook his head apologetically. The two of you sat together at a table and started to talk. Since than, you two became closer and closer, your feelings for him getting stronger by every passing day.
 You smiled thankfully at him and felt a tug on your pants. Looking down, you saw Kumajirou with his arms stretched out towards you, bouncing on his tipy toes. Smiling at his cuteness, you picked him up and carried him around as Matthew continued showing you around his country. You looked around and marveled at the large amount of space this country had. People walked around you while Matthew was almost stampeded over by the crowd multiple times. You frowned slightly in concern as Matthew dodged underneath a snowball. Matthew chuckled at your expression before waving it off. "Don't worry,_______. I'm used to it. Besides I'm just grateful that someone as kind as you can see me."
You blushed at his words but smiled a bit. "You're alright though, right Mattie?" You didn't notice how Matthew's face became red as the leaf on his flag at your nickname for him since Kumajirou had started to whine at the lack of attention you were giving him.
The bear looked at his owner for a few moments before whispering into your ear.
Matthew sighed out loud, knowing that his friend was probably asking you who he was again.

"Have you told him yet?" You let out an exasperated sigh before you whispered back, "He's my best friend! I don't want to ruin our friendship. Why do you always ask me that?" Kumajirou let out a small giggle before replying. "I just want to know. I'm happy that you like my owner though. No one can see him most of the time, and people forget about him easily." You suppressed a giggle before saying, "Even you forget him too sometimes." Kumajirou giggled into his paw before whispering, "No, I just pretend to. He always forgets my name, so I just pretend that I forgot his too. I'm not trying to mean or anything, I just like playing with Canada sometimes." You did a small smile as the two of you continued your whisperings. Matthew stared at you throughout the entire time. The Canadian, at first was worried that you would forget about him and stop being his friend but soon relaxed when you kept coming back. He kept thinking how lucky he was to have a friend like you...but deep down in his heart, he truly wanted to be more than just friends. Matthew snapped out of his senses when he heard a sneeze.

You tilted your head at the sniffling bear. Kumajirou blushed and shyly asked you to buy some a warm drink. You smiled and said out loud, "Of course. Here." You removed your _f/c_ earmuffs and put on the polar bear's small ears before handing Kumajirou to Matthew. "I'll be back!"

~Matthew's POV~
I watched as she ran into a nearby cafe before I walked towards a bench that was underneath a maple tree. I set Kuma...Kumakichi? down on the bench and stared at the faint gleaming of the stars. A wind blew past me and I instinctively knew that the Aurora Borealis was going to be out tonight. 'I wonder if ______ has seen them yet?' My chest tightened at the mere thought of ______. I remembered talking to Francis and Alfred about it, and they told me that I was in love. I couldn't believe it! All my life, after being ignored and being invisible to everyone, I thought I would never have a friend (except Kumakichi) and most importantly someone who loves me. I was afraid of falling in love. I always had nightmares where I would confess to ______ but then she would ignore me too and leave me behind like everyone else. I was afraid of being forgotten by _______. I fought against the urge to tell her of my feelings every single day when I'm around her. I snapped out of my thoughts when Kumakichi jumped beside me excitedly. I looked up and saw ________ holding a cup-holder that held 3 steaming cups, walking towards us with a smile.

'Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave?
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone?
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow

I stood up and watched her give a cup of warm milk to Kumakichi before giving me a cup of hot chocolate. I peeked down at the plastic lid and saw EXTRA MAPLE SYRUP and smiled gratefully at her. 'Every day, I died inside as people continued to ignore me, but I always fought back, because I knew there was someone like you waiting for me.' I thought. I watched her drink her cup silently with a slight grin. "Wow, Mattie! You're right, maple syrup is really good in hot chocolate!" I nodded silently as you drained the rest of your drink before picking up Kumakichi up careful not to spill his drink. She stood in beside me, slightly far away as we became to walk again. I took one step closer.

We stopped walking when we reached a small clearing where dozen of maple trees surrounded us. I glanced at her and watched as she sat down on the exposed ground. She started to smile as she looked down at her lap at Kumakichi's sleeping form. _______ looked up at me and scooted over for me to sit down beside her. ______ smiled reassuringly at me when I sat down before staring up into the star-filled sky. I felt my heart beat faster again as my face heated up as ________ tucked a strand of hair before shivering. I moved closer and wrapped my arm around her shoulder. It felt like time actually stood still as ______ snuggled deeper in my chest. 'Perhaps she's still cold...' But I knew the slight blush on her face said something different entirely. 'Perhaps...this is my last chance. You can do it, Matthew! You have to be brave!' I encouraged myself mentally. After a few moments, I hugged her hesitantly and was relieved when _______ closed her eyes in contentment.

I mentally took a deep breath before whispering her name. ________ gorgeous _e/c_ eyes shined with the reflections of the stars. I bit my lip in reluctance, but I already came this far so I frowned in determination. "_______, Je t'aime....I always have..."
_______'s eyes widen in surprise, and I sighed and was about to turn away when I felt ______'s lips upon mine own.

It was my turn to widen my eyes in surprise before I closed them as my hand tilted her head to deepen the kiss.

One of _______'s hands wrapped itself around my neck while the other got tangled in the hairs on the back of my head.

I parted from her with a blush on my cheeks. _______ giggled at my expression before we both heard another giggle. We turned our heads and saw Kumakichi covering his smile with both of his paws. My friend started to tremble excitedly before running between us. _______ laughed out loud when the polar bear started to ask her if all of us were going to be a family now while I continued to blush at the very thought of Kumakichi watching us kiss. I felt ______ kiss my cheek and I turned to look at her. She smiled and said, "Je t'amie trop, Mattie." I smiled back as I pulled her into my arms and gave her another kiss.


'I always thought love was a fairy tale...and was meant for people better than me...but _____...you proved that someone like me can live in happiness with someone like you forever at my side.'
